So, has anyone on here ever made cheese? I'd like to give that a go this year. I'm already planning to pickle and can when the yard and farm start producing.
milk is liquid. cheese is solid (or semi-solid). this means that it takes a lot of milk to make a relatively small amount of cheese. are you equipped to handle gallons of simmering milk? (how big is your biggest stewpot?)
pickling and canning aren't difficult - i've done quite a bit of canning in a boiling-water bath (pickles and jams), using my biggest stewpot (2 gallons). for canning everyday vegetables, though, you'll need a pressure canner.
