Blessed are the cheesemakers?

So, has anyone on here ever made cheese? I'd like to give that a go this year. I'm already planning to pickle and can when the yard and farm start producing.

You know, in case the zombies come.

milk is liquid. cheese is solid (or semi-solid). this means that it takes a lot of milk to make a relatively small amount of cheese. are you equipped to handle gallons of simmering milk? (how big is your biggest stewpot?)

pickling and canning aren't difficult - i've done quite a bit of canning in a boiling-water bath (pickles and jams), using my biggest stewpot (2 gallons). for canning everyday vegetables, though, you'll need a pressure canner.
