Champaigne recommendation

If you ever get to Keuka Lake, specifically Hammondsport, NY, get yourselves as many bottles as you can afford of Great Western Champaigne, from Pleasant Valley Winery. $10.45 a standard bottle, $21.39 for a 1.5L.

Ye Gods, is it good. Not quite on the scale of Perrier or Dom Perignon, but suspiciously close. Beats the all frak out of Korbel ( Read more... )

have you ever tried any of the wines from the (mostly Canadian) Niagara area? i don't drink wine very much - i tend to have a bad reaction (my son says it's the preservatives), going from "sober" to "hung over" without ever passing through "tipsy", on half a glass of wine. but i find the flavors of eiswein ("ice wine") extremely intriguing... and they make sparkling eiswein, too.
