Hi everyone! I will be starting EMT-B training in two weeks. So excited! I eventually want to become a paramedic. Any tips for someone new to the field?
-If you've never run EMS before, do some ride alongs - make sure you really like the field. -Study hard, everything is important. -Practice skills over and over, things get much easier when the motions feel natural. -BSI or universal precautions or whatever they're calling it these days! ALWAYS. -Dress for the job. Wear comfortable shoes, keep your hair tied back (or at least have a hair tie on your wrist), etc. -Keep your body strong, people can be REALLLLLY heavy, learn to lift. -Ask questions if you don't know something, never pretend or bullshit your instructors!
