Thank you, Captain Happypants. In the meantime, I still have two and a bit days left to bludge off and be silly. So nerr.
No wuckers. Not sure if I can help, depending on what she's after specifically, but I shall do my best. I've got access to a fairly hefty database of practically every single Australian media contact's details (journalists, editors, producers, et al).
Best curling plan of attack for me is... Fudge Hair Putty when it's half dry... then a bit of wax to hold the curls when it's dry... but not too much or it's grease city.
I hear you on the grease factor. I'm notorious for overdosing on product to try to hold them together and only succeeding to plaster my hair to my head.
Fudge Hair Putty. What's the texture of that like? Is it a wax, or gel, or something else? I'm currently using a very light curly hair mousse product with some wax to secure it. I have very fine hair so it's got to be something that isn't heavy.
It's a bit weird. It's definitely not wax because it doesn't leave your hair greasy. It doesn't set rock hard like gel does, but it still holds your hair. I'd probably describe it as a texturising gum. My hair's really, really fine too, but there's LOTS of it. If yours is a similar texture it'll probably work well :oD
subtract shampoo (it just strips your hair of all it's healthy protective oils that keep curls in line). add lots of conditioner (massage it into scalp to loosen and remove dirt and icky smells, and coat hair with it to add lots of healthy moisture). add gel (scrunch hair to let it form curls the way it wants to). let sit for 1 hour or until dry. perhaps shake hair a bit after that to set curls free.
however, the above formula can be adjusted as you please to suit your particular hair type (mine is super dry), and baby shampoo is alright if the thought of no shampoo is too much to bear. i also occasionally use a wide toothed plastic comb when in the shower to help remove tangles.

Aren't I cheery.
P.S. I linked wildilocks to this journal, she is looking for W.A. media contacts.
