I hate talking/writing about myself. I don't want to trump myself up telling strangers how I stand out, contribute to diversity, or what challenges/obstacles I've overcome.

It's difficult and redundant.

At least you get to do it in writing. It's a lot easier to fill out a bunch of 'high points' about yourself, than have some knob throw stupid questions at you during an interview.
