I don't know if I've ever talked about how Chinese characters are made up different radicals, each of which has it's own meaning and adds a certain element to the word as a whole. So while you don't get any idea of how to pronounce a word based on the character, you have some indication of the meaning.

So I'm working on grad school apps, and it's terrifying. It's not like applying to undergrad, where you go online, fill out your info and a few places you want to go and then you're done, I have to personally e-mail potential supervisors and ask them to please let me work for them. Histology does really suck. Although it is cool to be able to look at microscope slides and know what something is, it's so not worth the eosin-pink headaches.
Nothing much to report on my front, I'm at a 10-day lull between exams, so it's like a pseudo-break. I can relax a little but not without a tinge of guilt. Still awesome to relax though. I ( Read more... ) -
