Dear Lazywebs:

I am in need of a diary-free birthday treat for 15 kids that can fit in a 6-year-old's backback.

My fallback is fruit roll-ups, but I'm hoping for something a little more interesting. Ideas?

Also, OMFG, R is going to be 6 tomorrow! I think I need to go back to bed.

party time, gobble gobble, life and how to live it

chocolate dipped fruit using dairy free chocolate (if it can't be touched at ALL by dairy, there is Kosher Parve chocolate available where the lines never had milk product on it - I know too much about chocolate)

maybe dip dried apricots in the chocolate - they should be sturdy enough to go in a back pack without smooshing

That would definitely be dairy free...

stuffed dates? I'm guessing peanut butter is a no-go, but if it's not, that works best. Otherwise, you can substitute almond or cashew butter as well. Riley LOVES them. You take a date, and if it's pitted, you can just stuff the filling into the slot. If it's not pitted, slice down one side and pop out the pit and then fill the center. You can stuff it with all manner of things in addition to nut-butters - like a dairy free chocolate, too.

Most muffins can be made without dairy, like these, just skip the frosting:

The rice krispy treats are also a good idea.
You could also make bags of "puppy chow"; just substitute margarine.
