I wish taser guns were legal

My fifth graders are so absolutely horrid that the teachers have passed around an e-mail informing everyone to crack down on them. They are ridiculous. They make me wish that I could bring a taser to school and zap them when they act up

They could be so much more if they tried, and it scares me to think that they won't ever try. But I think that's something I have to learn as a teacher. I have to learn that no matter how much I try, or how much anyone else tries, that I can't make them want it. I can't make them try. They have to do it themselves. And no matter the outcome, I have to watch.

I'm beginning to think this is true of all people - it's just when we get students/people together, it's more obvious. I have a feeling that when I teach college (someday), I'll get the same thing from my college students. If/when this happens, I will be VERY disappointed since I plan on teaching future teachers.

The overall respect for education in this country just plain sucks. It's frustrating and pretty depressing at times.
