I gotta say this, because it's been bugging me ever since slash, shounen-ai, and yaoi became popular among the bigger series on ffnet and other various fanfiction websites.

If you, as an aspiring author of any intelligence whatsoever, have the urge to write a story that involves two men a) falling in love, b) screwing around, or c) all of the above

Hear, hear! I cannot stand mpreg! ...I just cannot read it. at all. full stop. There have been some really really really good summarys that have been utterly ruined by the last word. Mpreg.

Its not just mpreg, its the whole girl thing. its called YAOI for that reason. Sorry, i will stop bitching, but... c'mon

I must say, I do like some mpreg. XD Like in the HP universe--seeing as everyone loves making a Malfoy (jr or senior) a veela, they usually get knocked up. But its rarely done right and it's usually completely and totally out of place and unrealistic.

There are some gender-switch stories that have been done well. But only when it's not just a crappy plot device used to "get boy a with boy b".

But for the most part they are few and far between, and I think I've only encountered the really good ones in HP and Popslash fandoms.
