A neuroscientist, I think. One that invents a machine to record dreams. Or some sort of doctor.

Easy. The talent of /getting things done/. A combination of organization, concentration and motivation.

A glass of red wine (syrah), or some sort of garish girly drink (mmm, my favorite).

Either Green Mars (part of Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars Trilogy), or Cory Doctorow's Someone Comes To Town, Someone Leaves Town. Both are excellent, if you like sprawling scifi or surreal modern-day fabulist fiction, respectively.
