Ryo peeled his shaking hands off the steering wheel and raked one through his hair. "Wow, that was close."
A skateboarding teen had careened into the street in front of the car, causing Ryo to slam on the brakes. He'd missed the kid by a hair.
"Damn punk," snorted Dee. He shifted and reached into his coat pocket, coming up with a piece of wrapped candy. "Here."
Ryo accepted it with a puzzled frown. "What's this for?"
"Chocolate cures the frights," Dee replied with a shrug.
Ryo removed his foot from the brake and resumed driving. "Thank you, Professor Lupin."
