hp_coffeehouse Prompt No. 74 -
Happy Birthday mugSummary: Harry is thwarted by the Twin Terrors.
Harry woke up in a good mood. Sex would do that for a bloke. It was too bad Malfoy had left last night. He'd been serious when he said he only had time to shag and skive. It was less than ideal, but Harry would take what he could get from Malfoy.
Harry indulged in a hot shower before dressing and wandering into the kitchen. There, he fed Panini and started some coffee brewing. Harry opened his cupboard for a cup. The only clean one available had Happy Birthday on it. The cup was a gift from Luna. It was much more useful than the kitten.
Harry grinned at Panini, who was happily eating and not at all upset to play second fiddle to a coffee mug. Harry finished his coffee, rinsed his mug, and set it aside. He definitely needed to do dishes that evening.
After a boring morning spent at the Ministry, Harry decided that lunch at Dragon Brew would be just the pick up required to make it through the afternoon. With no murders or ruined garden parties to investigate, he was in danger of dozing off at his desk. If things became too dire, he could always take on the challenge of trying to nick something from Hermione's office, although she was much more vigilant than Ron was.
Harry was still pondering the possibility when he stepped into Dragon Brew. Lynsey was at the counter, and when it was Harry's turn to order, he requested a Long Black and a Potter Panini.
"Does the dragon himself have time to join me for lunch?" Harry asked her.
"I'll check with him," she replied as she placed his items on a tray. "He was putting the finishing touches on a special order of fairy cakes."
Harry thanked Lynsey, paid for his lunch, and dropped his change in Luna's donation jar. Although he took his time eating, he was nearly halfway through his meal before Malfoy emerged from the kitchen and joined him.
He dropped into the seat across the small table from Harry and quirked a blond brow. "A Potter Panini, Potter?"
"They're delicious," Harry argued. "I think I should receive a discount, however."
"I need to earn enough income to fund my lavish lifestyle, Potter."
Harry responded with a snort. "Perhaps you should aspire to be the boy toy of a wealthy benefactor."
"That's a capital idea," said Malfoy. "Any idea where I can find such a benefactor?" His eyes sparkled with good humor, clearly enjoying the banter.
Harry warmed to the subject. "As a matter of fact--"
"Mr Malfoy, if you can tear yourself away from your beau, we're here for our fairy cakes."
Harry bit back a groan as he turned to see Mabel and Ethel waiting at the counter. "Let Lynsey help them," he muttered.
Malfoy sighed and pushed his chair back. "They're my best customers."
"I thought I was your best customer," Harry said. He sounded petulant, and he knew it.
"No, the Twin Terrors don't constantly badger me for sex," said Malfoy. He stood up, leaned down and added in a soft voice, "They only demand it occasionally."
Harry's mouth fell open as Malfoy sauntered away. And then, because he couldn't help himself, he threw his head back and laughed.
