Oh, I know, but it just seems like people are so afraid of global warming but they certainly do complain when it is cold. I guess I was trying to make a point but failed at doing so.... :D

The problem with it staying cold all winter is that there's no relief for people who really hate the cold and snow. Which really has nothing to do with the environment at large (and you're right about it being better if it stays cold all winter), but as someone who would happily live somewhere where it doesn't go below 75F all year round and who tends to need a sweatshirt in 75F weather, I can definitely understand where they're coming from. The cold may be important, but it is also really, really unpleasant for some people.
