Oh thanks so much, Maria. You so sweet and so kind. I truly appreciate you dropping in.
I feel like I'm in a funk of some sort.
I swear I hope I'm not the only artist to do this, but, I've been wondering if my art is good enough, am I doing the right thing, ya know?
There's so much competition out there and I was reading an article over at the FAE forum about licensing and in one sentence it says something about niche markets. Isn't fairy art a niche market?
It's mainly the question of, am I good enough, ya know?
I love doing fairies, but I am really lazy and bad when it comes to doing backgrounds, so most of my art are single characters. Plus on top of that, I do digital work, which most people aren't attracted to. (yet???)
My painting skills really stink, but put my in front of my computer and the ideas just flow and the drawings just come.
I'm really not sure, Maria. I wish I knew. Maybe it is all of the above or maybe a small piece of it. I'm not sure.
Sweetie believe me we all have this "I hate my art" days that we wish we woudnt. I am as well. There are days that I can wake up to a feeling that I am going with my head to the wall and I can forget to get to somewhere. Some days you feel to old to be able actually to get to your goal (funny huh LOL) and some days you feel that you art is the most horrible thing you can ever see :)....
I guess big part of being an artist is also being incredibly emotional and open - its why we have these mood swings all the time. It is the biggest blessing and the biggest curse but believe me I couldnt be without it. It what makes it ME and it what I wouldnt change for a world.
If you would like any specifical tips or hints - just let me know, I will be glad to do so.
Kathy, everyone feels like do at times. I posted the article you are talking about and I took the info from a book. I'm not sure I agree with that particular part though about niches. True, you don't want to limit yourself so much that you cut out a good part of your potential market. But, I think you are able to improve more by concentrating on certain subjects. Don't feel down...you'll snap out of it. Do the kind of art that you love and it will show. (((HUGS)))
I appreciate that so much. I do love fairies and I love making them come alive from beginning to end. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like this. I hate feeling like this, wondering, doubting, etc.
Thanks so much, Kelly. Please know that I really do appreciate it.
