As James' parents have gone on holiday and left me, James and Monkey Boy home alone I decided to ditch my usual cooking once a fortnight habit and do it every day. On Thursday I made cheesecake, on Friday I made lentil, tomato and pasta soup and yesterday I made dinner (mashed potato, onion gravy, steamed peas, steamed carrots and a tin of baked ( Read more... )

The food you describe brings back memories of Sunday dinners with the in-laws. I'd never had gravy on greens before, but it was good! I converted to TEA (instead of coffee) while I lived there. And I always shopped at Asda's in Essex. The Sainsbury's near me in London was always mobbed and overpriced. Anyway, still enjoy the cuppa, although our tea isn't as good over here.

I gave up tea because the caffeine started affecting me negatively, how tragic. I should probably try decaffeinated tea. At the moment I'm mainly drinking rooibos tea instead.

I was going to make bangers and mash, but we were out of vegan sausages, so I did baked beans instead.

Some people are extremely sensitive to caffeine. I have a coworker who works 2 jobs, sometimes back to back shifts, and she really pounds the caffeine. It definitely shows when she flips out over nothing!

Bangers & mash=yum! My son always asks for sausages in Yorkshire pudding, but it's too hot here to cook that now. Baked beans are pretty versatile, from on toast to baked potatoes.

Toad in the hole! I should attempt to vegan-ise that some time.

I made something similar to yesterday tonight: lentil loaf, roast potatoes, peas, carrots and onion gravy. I was going to make Indian, but then James helpfully reminded me it was Sunday, which meant I should make a Sunday Roast. Maybe I'll do Indian tomorrow.
