They showed Mean Creek last night. I've got it on DVD, bit it's nice to see it being shown on TV, even if it was stowed away at 1:35am. I love this film, but I can't watch it if I'm feeling emotionally fragile, it's so sad.
Josh gave a gem of a performance in Mean Creek, making a bully both mean and vulnerable, then getting killed. That was sad, then the realization by the two older boys that this random act of violence can't be undone or covered up and it is going to irrevocably alter their lives in a very bad way - that was even MORE sad. It is extremely hard to watch if you are not in the right state of detachment!
Sometimes the ending, when part of George's video tape is being shown, makes me cry. I start weeping over how he never got to show the world the real him.
