I got CARDED.
Woooohooooo!!!
I love the US, I pass for a teen. I mean, my sister I could understand. She passes for a twelve year old even in Manila. I know, I'm so babaw, that was enough to make my day. actually, that could be enough to make my whole trip. Hahaha!
Anyway, I'm back from Big Bear. Had so much fun riding the luge and sledding. We'll try to go back and just do a turn around trip when we get back from New york just so I can try my hand at skiing. I have no coordination or sense of balance whatsoever so good luck to me. It's just that I found everything so much fun I think I'm willing to try even skiing, chicken that I am.
And as I said earlier, I literally had a cold Valentines Day. I was still in Bear Mt earlier, to ring the "Singles Awareness Day" in. It's ironic that the one time I felt too warm and could actually just walk around the house in a thin tee and jammies, I was surrounded by snow. The heater in the house we rented was something else! I didn't even need blankets to sleep coz it was sooo warm. And even when we were in the middle of snow, it was warm from around 830am til maybe 4pm. You get by in a tee and a knitted sweater...actually, the knit sweater is still a bit too warm.
Oh, and I finally got to experience some traffic. I know, pathetic that I'm writing about traffic. it's just that Manila traffic is soo bad I never think traffic here is bad. It was though this afternoon, on the way back to San Diego from the LA area. We got hit by rush hour traffic compounded by Valentine's Day traffic. It was still moving though, albeit very slowly. I went to sleep. I swear, I'd get lost here. I'm very good with directions but I'm a visual person. Like I never remember street names (or any name for that matter, sorry friends), I remember landmarks instead. There are no landmarks in southern California. Everything is flat and everything looks the same. All exits look the same, same Denny's, same strip malls etc, etc. Boring. I mean, even the houses are all the same--orange roofs, cream paint, cookie cutter shapes. I've been here several times but this is really when the sameness of it all hit me. The rocks are pretty though, you know, those big boulders on the hills around the freeway areas? Yeah, color me weird, I like the rocks here.
Oh, and an announcement:
