Meh. It happens
That said.
As I have not yet read the book and viewed the movie, I loved it and here's why: (blue peni asides) A) It was a massive endeavor and keeping in mind ALL the painstaking editing; it still was for the most part cohesive. B) As you mentioned, Rorschach, well performed and very real. C) I loved the music they used. I especially liked "These Times They are A Changin" with the theme. I think it worked. D) The art direction and costumes gave the movie this surreal feeling of an alternate reality.I loved the contrast of the shiny, superheroes with the seedy grimy reality. E) The deterioration of the gal's mother and the deterioration of the Comedian. The glimpses into the past and present helped significantly.
If I read the book, I'd prolly agree but for now- Love!

Well... Actually, I agree with you on the point that stylistically, it LOOKED very good. The director was the guy who did 300, which I also thought looked good from a stylistic standpoint. It was also cohesive
