I didn't see a way to comment on Andrew Zhou's essay, so I'll do it here. It was a remarkable, informative essay, and I loved the attached video. You picked a great champion.

You're right-there aren't any comments integrated into his site, but I've been passing along the feedback to him. He's happy to know people resonate with the piece! Thank you! I couldn't agree more, and I'm very grateful to him.

This was a completely fascinating read. I'm always so interested in the processes of other writers or artists, so I was very hooked into this whole essay. I haven't listened to the piece yet, but the essay made me really excited to. This is a perfect piece for you and for this competition in general; I think it speaks a bit to all of us in some way.

I'm really impressed by the whole portfolio here. I was wondering what you were going to do, if you were going to try and hone in on one thing or if you were going to try and showcase all of your different talents. I'm glad you did this the way you did, showing varied pieces and mediums, because that really is so very you.

Thank you so much (on his behalf)! Since he comes from the classical music world, he was worried that the essay wouldn't feel accessible, but I so agree with you that how he portrays Silsbee's creative process is deeply relatable for us in the LJ Idol realm.

Thank you truly for the warm feedback to my portfolio. It's a sincere privilege to be seen by a peer.
