Rules
None of us like reading the rules, but we have them for a reason.
General
*This RPG is rated R.
We expect this rp to contain mature plots, including
sex/violence/swearing and any other dark themes that players dream up.
Because of this rating the age limit is seventeen. We know everyone
matures at different rates, and some teens could probably handle the
dark content, but we want this to be safe and legal for everyone.
*If anyone is younger than seventeen and lies about it, they will be caught and banned without question.
*Respect.
It's plain and simple: Respect your fellow players, their plots, their
schedules, and their lives. Don't be a jerk. It will just make everyone
dislike you, and likely lead to being banned.
*Stay active!
Activity checks will be run every one to two weeks. If you reply to the
activity checks but you haven't posted in more than a week, you will be
considered inactive and gone and your character will die mysteriously
only to be replaced by another.
*If you need to take a leave of
absence, post in the OOC comm and we can think up a reason for your
character to be missing. We understand that real life is sometimes
crazy, but just let us know. It is worse for you to completely vanish
without a word and have us wondering where you went, than to just leave a
quick note and have us put you on hold. A leave of absence does not
automatically mean a termination from the rp, but a week without any
contact or explanation does.
Posting
*Beginning thread posts will be posted in the main com with replies left below in the comments.
*Please post/reply at least once a week at the absolute minimum.
You are welcome to post as often as you can (allowing time for your
thread partner to post back, of course), but please keep to the minimum
so threads can continue going.
*Please place warnings at the
beginning of posts if they contain gore/smut/rape and other material
that others would like to avoid. These things are still permissible in
the rp, but put them behind a well labeled tag and/or LJ-cut.
*Please
begin each post with what time of day you are starting it. For example,
“Day One Evening”. All action will only take place on the day we are
playing.
*There are no word counts, but please make something
palpable that can be responded to. It is hard to respond to very short
replies, and just as troublesome to wade through very long replies. As a
general rule, make your replies the length you would like to see in
other’s replies.
*When posting your own thread, please add the
characters inside of the thread to the tags, as well as what day it's
taking place. If you forget, we will go ahead and edit it for you.
*When posts are closed, please mark them as with the tag "Closed."
*While
character personal journal posts are not required, we would love to see
them. It adds more depth to the game, and a chance to get to know each
other's characters better.
*All posts are to be written in the
third person with proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Character's
personal journals are an exception, of course. Those may be formatted
however you see fit.
*There will be large posts accessible to
everyone posted through the mod account. These are for major plot
points, and will usually follow a free for all pattern. But players are
free to post smaller threads, for small group activities or happenings,
whenever they like. Please try to keep in mind the current timeline, and
check the main threads and your fellow player's threads to avoid time
or plot conflicts.
Characters
*You are only
allowed one character per player. Since we have such a limited cast,
this is only fair to the others. When the plot advances in the future,
there may be opportunity to garner another character. But in the meantime, one character only please.
*No characters from fandoms/movies/comics/whatever. We would like original characters only. Please and thank you.
*We
would prefer real people for “Played By”s, but if you absolutely can't
find someone to fit your character's face, realistic drawings are
acceptable (no Anime or highly stylized art, please).
*On that
note, please have at least one icon to use for your character. It helps
other players recognize each other easier, and adds to the gameplay.
*You
are only allowed three skills for your character, and we beg you to
make them unique or different from the others. We understand there may
be some overlap, but things become bland when everyone has the same
super awesome skills.
*You may use less than three skills if you
wish, but we don't want you to somehow cram everything you can into
them. In the same vein, Mary Sues and Gary Stus will be rejected without
question.
*Your character possesses absolutely NOTHING of their
former life, except for their one special item (mentioned below). They
will wake up in rough, homespun clothes (Overalls/trousers and a peasant
shirt for the men, and dresses or skirts and peasant tops for the
women. No one has shoes). This seemed the only place to add this, so
keep it in mind.
Application/ Set-Up
*After
you reserve a character slot, you have one (1) week to submit an
application. After one (1) week, your reservation expires.
*Your
character must have their own account and character journal to post in,
or, if you're recycling a character, make sure to add the tag "End of
Game" to your character's journal posts.
*Review the other
player’s applications as you fill out your own application. Check out
their listed skills and character information. A character that is
unique from existing characters has a better chance of being accepted.
Gameplay
*If
there are more than two characters in a thread and you are waiting on
someone to reply, give them a day or so. If they have not replied by
then, move on without them. We would personally like to move
semi-quickly, as we'll be taking this RPG day by day, not weeks or
months at a time, but we understand that RL>RP.
*So your character wants to take over the house and become some sort of king? Go for it!
However,
that doesn't mean the other characters are going to comply. We really
want players to be able to do what they want here and as long as they
don't kill/poison/maim a character without the player's approval.
*No
Godmodding or powerplaying. If you are unsure about your actions, check
with the other players involved, or contact the mods. We will issue
only one warning, and make the post invalid, if we see godmodding or
powerplay. A second violation will result in immediate removal from the
rp, and your character will be devoured by the house.
*You cannot
escape the house. It is inescapable, on purpose. The inability to leave
the house is one of the main plot points of the rp. You are encouraged
to try, as that is a natural response, but keep in mind what this rp is.
If you want to make efforts to escape the house, PM the mods and see if
we approve. We do not want to limit creative thinking.
*If you ever have any questions about whether or not you should do something, never hesitate to PM the mods.
*When there is a mod post made in game on this account, everyone must read it
and react to it. Mod posts will usually detail one of the many peculiar
and downright creepy events that happen in the house. As a result,
major plot points and major threads will often be centered on the mod
posts. Also, don't be surprised if there is a mod post as a reply in the
middle of a thread. If it happens, react to it, deal with it, and then
carry on.
Other
*Please send the words
'Caput Draconis' to this mod account in a PM so we know you have read
the rules. It will make accepting your application much easier.
*And
last and perhaps most importantly: do not take this game too seriously.
It's a game, have fun with it! There is no reason to flip out on
people, or make yourself miserable over a game.
These rules will be added to as seen fit by the mods.
