Bleach-a-thon...Part 1!!!!
I just got finished watching the first two discs of my recently received Bleach DVD Set. All I can say is...wow! After laboring through the Adult Swim dub (which, in all honesty, isn't that bad but now after seeing the original Japanese language version, I've become spoiled by the seiyuu and their work...though, oddly enough I actually prefer the dubbed version of Urahara, Orihime and Kon...strange, huh?) and getting to the episode that introduced Renji Abarai and Byakuya Kuchiki watching Rukia run away, I figured I had finally reached the beginning of the Soul Society Arc that my friend Profiterole had told me about (and how awesome it was!). I was pretty ready for it, but then...that's when Adult Swim pulled their 'end-of-the-year' marathon crap and decided that they would go ahead and do a Bleach marathon on Saturday instead of showing the next episode! ARGH! But, fortunately for me, my eBay order of a 9-disc Bleach set arrived before this past Saturday and I had a chance to experience what Profiterole was talking about! And even though I'm only scratching the surface of the Soul Society Arc, it's still pretty damn good!
Renji and Byakuya (yaoi bait if I've ever seen it...LOL) carving up Ichigo (well, Byakuya really was the one who did Ichigo in, but Renji was just too cool not to mention!) and leaving him for dead was pretty messed up...but in that cool, to be continued next week kinda way! Except, I'm not going to have to wait until next week...LOL! Ichigo's training with Kisuke Urahara and Ururu (that was some silly headgear, but damn that girl is quick!) was fun to watch and it was great to see him get his Shinigami powers back at the end of it (but really, who DIDN'T think that he'd get them back...LOL!). So, the gang (Ichigo, Orihime, Ishida, Chad and Yoruichi) decided to go and rescue Rukia and off they go! One of the funniest moments for me: after Ishida tears his cape during the transit through the portal, he calmly declares that it was lucky for him that he brought a spare, pulls it out and promptly puts it on! Gotta love that geeky, sissy-boy, stitch-master who can kick MUCH ass with an energy bow!!! LOL!!! Next they face off against the Shinigami gatekeeper, and then a Shinigami captain (whose name I can't remember right now) who quickly hands them ALL their asses!!! Talk about a quick fix for your problems! Skipping over some of the other events, we finalyl get a chance to see a female character who has an even BIGGER bust size than Orihime...Kukaku Shiba!!!! All I can say is that if she were human, she'd have some SERIOUS back problems with that load! But still, I like her and her personality (anyone with an 'off' personality like hers make my faves list!), but man does her brother pay for his mistakes with her! LOL! Anyways, the second disc stops just after Ichigo engages the Shinigami squad member with the Zanpakuto that turns into a spear (after Ganju Shiba runs away, drawing the other Shinigami after him). So, it's on to the third disc to get more of my fill of the Soul Society Arc!
So far, I'd have to say that I really like what I'm seeing and hope it continues to just get better and better! With that said, two disc down and seven more to go!!!
