Godmoding
Verb
The act of playing a character as though they're God.
Godmoding is the term used whenever a player gives their character an unfair advantage in a situation, either by giving them absurdly powerful abilities, or by dictating the actions of another player.
Godmoding comes from the term 'god mode' in video games. That's fairly self explanatory. It's when a character is played as invincible. Nothing can touch them.
There are a couple types of godmoding.
Invincible Character. No one can beat them in a contest/fight/whatever. They are the ultimate Mary Sue in that they have no limitations. While your character in canon may be somewhat like this - you need to remember that there are characters in other canons which may be also. Be fair. Injuries can happen. A shot can miss. If you're in a fight-log with another uber-character, talk oocly, work things out, be fair, take some hits as well as giving them. :)
Omnicient Character. So! You play someone who sees everything, do you? Even those who know 'everything' miss some things. They may know some canon things about a character from another fandom, due to their tV show - but they won't likely know that character's going to a secret rendezvous if they haven't been around for the talking of it. Be fair to your other players :)
Superman! Action Jumper. This is where the 'your fist stops where my face beings' part comes in. When interacting with other characters, your action stops with YOU. You do not get to say how they react, how it effects them. You can say what it's meant to do - but not whether it happens. The other character gets to do the reacting. So basically, remember. You play your character, the other person plays theirs, and never the twain shall meet. :)
