April had heard somebody was going to spike the punch, so she got herself a paper cup and filled it up. To her annoyance, it just tasted like regular punch. Either the spiker in question hadn't turned up yet, or there was such a combination of alcohol in the punch that they cancelled each other out and it tasted like nothing at all. She'd find out in a half hour or so which was the case.

Meandering to the end of the refreshment table, she looked out over the scene, rolling her eyes behind her masquerade mask.

Fawkes had apparently heard the same thing about the punch, and since half the reason he'd bothered to steal his brother's ticket was for the free booze, it was his first stop upon entering the gym. Grabbing himself a cup, he filled it, and took a sip, more than a touch disappointed that it tasted like, well, punch. He swirled it around in the cup, looking down at it dubiously, as if it would magically turn to alcohol with a little agitation, then took another sip.

So much for that idea.

He looked up, spotting April, and frowned. "Is it me or is this punch kinda ... "

"Kinda like punch and not what we were promised? Yeah, it sucks." April frowned down at her glass, wondering who was supposed to spike it.

"Lame," he muttered, dropping his glass, still half-full, in the nearest trash can. "I, uh, might have some beer in my car, but I dunno how good it'd taste in fruit punch or whatever."

Yes, he had a car. Sort of. Kind of. Okay, so maybe he'd boosted the ancient Ford POS his uncle Paul kept in the garage, and he didn't quite have a license yet, but still. He'd driven it here and it was his chariot for the night, even if he was probably going to catch hell the second he walked in the door.

She looked him over, contemplating what he meant by that.

"You offering, or just asking for my opinion on how beer in punch would taste?" April had no clue how it would taste, but she knew that if you mixed enough crap together, eventually they cancelled each other out and it wouldn't taste bad at all.

He glanced between her and the punch bowl thoughtfully, then popped one shoulder in a shrug. "I dunno. Both?"

"It would probably taste like death." She held a pause, then added, "We should try it."

That, apparently, was all the encouragement he needed, and he flashed her a grin. "Make sure none of the adults get too close while I'm out at my car, okay?"

The last thing he wanted was to come back with the beer and find this place teacher central. He wasn't sure he could keep it hidden under his suit coat for very long if he couldn't just drop the goods and run.

"'Kay." While it would amuse her to say she'd keep watch, only to leave the area and watch him return to be greeted by their teachers, she really was curious to try this beer-punch concoction. She took up a position casually beside the punch bowl, keeping a lookout. If any teachers approached, she'd just make up some lie about seeing some boys heading for the choir room with smoke bombs.

Fawkes returned a few minutes later, a six pack surprisingly well hidden under his coat. He hung back for a moment, checking to make sure April hadn't run straight to a teacher -- he didn't recognize her as that bitch from Facebook, but he was still cautious -- and when it looked like the coast was clear, he moved over to the punch bowl in earnest.

"Okay. Second verse, same as the first." Namely, she'd have to stand watch to make sure the faculty didn't catch on to him dumping bottle after bottle of beer into the punch.

April was as true as her word, that word being "'kay," but she had kept watch well and now she kept a lookout for anyone who might ruin their experiment. Seeing a teacher come closer, she rushed out to meet him, making up some bogus story on the fly about some kids planning on breaking into the principal's office. Once the teacher took off to investigate, she returned to the punchbowl.

"Almost done?"

"I am now." He'd have to go back out to his car to get rid of the empty bottles, of course, but that could wait a minute. "Nice save, by the way."

Grabbing a cup, she was ready to test the improved punch out.

"Teachers always trust me because of my warm, open nature." How she managed to say that with a straight face was a mystery, but the sarcasm was evident.

"You know, I could tell that just by looking at you."

His own sarcasm was just as apparent, and he flashed her a lopsided smile before grabbing a cup of his own. He filled it with punch and took a sip. A small, sour face followed. "Okay, yeah, that's horrible."

She filled her own glass with punch, taking a sip around the same moment he did. Nearly spitting it out, she clapped a hand over her mouth, forcing it down. Then she set down her glass and looked around.

"Yeah. I'm gonna find a clear spot to watch everybody try it though."

"That's ... actually a pretty awesome idea."

Though, honestly, after he went and disposed of the evidence, he'd probably hang around pretty close to the punch table, just in case. Someone needed to make sure none of the teachers got wise, and he figured he should let April enjoy the show. She'd done enough for him already.
