Pursing her lips, she thought about it for a moment before she opted to move quickly to the other side of the lake. Brushing her hair out of her eyes, she smiled politely and cleared her throat. Nothing better than moving faster than the eye can see and scaring the crap out of someone.
"Hey, I didn't want to startle you."

"Chris?" He meant, of course, Christine Chapel who he'd been texting not five mintues ago. "What're you doing here? I thought you were at the prom?"

Still, Caroline could handle it. Shaking it off, she shook her head, "It's Caroline... and it's okay." She needed to not focus on that aspect and just focus on the fact that he had sort of asked her a question, even if it wasn't intended for her.
"I was actually, still, kind of avoiding prom. Matt and I had a fight and so now this was the dance we could be going together to, but we aren't. Which, I'm fine with. I just... don't think I want to see him if he's with someone else."
Once more she shook it off, giving Jim a glance of apologetic, "Sorry, you didn't actually need all that information."

As she continued, he shoved his hands awkwardly into his pockets. Seemed he wasn't the only one having a less than stellar night. He shrugged as she finished and apologised. "It's alright. Everyone has date problems on prom night." He grinned casually. "Has he said he's going with anyone else?"
