I WAS PRAYING WE'D GET A KISS BUT I WASN'T SURE IF WE WOULD AND THEN WE DID AND IT WAS PERFECT AND I CAN DIE HAPPY NOW.
You guys. That was so much more than I thought we would get. Not just the kiss, but the tenderness of the kiss. Can you imagine how long it had been since she'd been kissed like that? Or made love to the way you just know Eric made love to her? Probably forever.
AND SO MANY MORE THINGS. The tension when he stepped right up to her in front of all the girls, oh Lordy. The look on his face when she demanded that money from Bill and Lorena, I'll never get over that. (By the way, Bill and Lorena! That was fucking epic.) And the twirling and the hands and the way he stroked her shoulder and the way he admires everything about her and the way he said her name and the horror on his face when he saw what she'd done. I've never been more glad to ship anything in my entire life. There are a lot of things I still want, but we're so far beyond my wildest dreams already, and if this is all we get, I'll still be grateful.
I've never been prouder of Pam than during that last flashback scene. I've rarely been prouder of any character than during that last flashback scene. She's been suffering through this empty, meaningless human existence, knowing it's only going to get worse, and then along comes this vampire who represents everything she's been longing for, everything she's been missing. Excitement and fun and glamour and romance and life. Eric is, as Kristin put it, her knight in shining armour. She sees an opportunity to change her fate, and she grabs it with both hands, without fear or hesitation. We should all be so brave. God, I love her to pieces.
Now, Vanessa and I already had a good talk on Twitter about just how many places the haters can shove it, but let me reiterate: YOUR ARGUMENT IS ACTUALLY INVALID. "She left him no choice"? AMATEURS. What show have you been watching for the past four years? First of all, when was the last time you saw Eric Northman, Viking Vampire God Eric Northman, in full possession of his faculties and control of his body, do something that he didn't want to do? Oh, never? I thought you might say that. Second of all, he had at least two other choices. He could have healed her. Jessica restored Jason's sight. Bill fixed Sookie's broken back, for fuck's sake. And Eric's blood is many times more powerful than both of theirs. He could have healed her, glamoured her (or not, depending) and left. Alternatively, he could have just let her die (which, while seemingly cruel, would have been arguably less so than healing her and abandoning her to her lonely, miserable, syphylitic fate, glamoured or unglamoured). But he didn't do either of those things. He chose to turn her. He was captivated by her from the moment he saw her in the street, and everything he's learned of her since then has only captivated him more. He knows she's worthy of a place at his side. He stood and thought about it and chose to turn her, not because she forced him to, but because he wanted to.
And this isn't just crowing from those of the Eric/Sookie shippers who are running on flawed logic. (Which, tell me again how Eric's interest in Sookie is as pure as the driven snow and has absolutely nothing to do with her fairy blood and the power it has over vampires. Go on. I could use a good laugh.) I'm seeing the same things framed as complaints from our side of the table. Come on, people. We've suffered much to get this far, and you're playing right into their hands with this ignorant crap. Would you have preferred the book version, where he turns her against her will? Jesus fucking Christ. Just stop it.
I can't believe we're already a quarter of the way through the season. MY EMOTIONS.
