I don't think it's selfish to want success for yourself. I think the problem is when someone wants success for ONLY themselves, and that's not your problem at all.

well, I want success for everyone really. but the problem is that in my mind, my success intercedes with others plans. and this could be selfish if something does go wrong in my plan.

but i know that it's not selfish, if it remains wholesome.

I think just considering selfishness says something important about you. It says you're willing to keep yourself in check, and that's very admirable.
