Just saw "Alice in Wonderland"

I like it a lot!
I didn’t come out of the theatre with a this-was-fricking-amazing! feeling, but I was very entertained. It probably could have benifited from more craziness, although I didn’t really mind it making more sense.
I did love the sword-wielding Alice. That’s not something you see a lot in movies and I do love ( Read more... )

I both liked and disliked sword wielding Alice. It just seemed a little predictable to have that "girl power" aspect going on but that's a minor issue. I did enjoy it. :)

I like that "girl power" thing as it so rarely done properly. Usually there is always a boy or a knight coming to the rescue. In movies anyway, books are different. I did appreciate that they put her in a proper armor too, not one of those "breastplate-over-a-dress" type of thing that reminds you that even though she is holding a sword, she is a laaaaady.

I guess I never have issue with that "girl power" thing, I do have issue with the fact that it always seems to be for the same type of girls though :(

Oh I forgot the lisping! English is not my first language and there are two or three times where I turned to my boyfriend to ask him what the character said, some times he told me he didn't understand either. We also didn't get the sudden Scottish accent when the Hatter became serious and talked about the Jabberwocky. It was weird, but I guess it was intended.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I did like the actress who played Alice, I also think she was charming and really made me cheer fo her throughout the movie.
I just can't say if she's a really good actress since I haven't seen her in anything else.

I was very entertained and would probably buy the DVD, and it's the kind of movie that I would rewatch, but it's not the best movie of the year.

I knew I would love the movie from the first few minutes because it contains almost everything I enjoy: the Victorian Era, England, and a strong heroine. I really loved sword-wielding Alice as well, and I too am always up for a message about girl power--I'm jealous of Alice's armor! And I think it's great that this movie was different, that it had a message. Because I really wasn't expecting them to play up that aspect of a strong female ( ... )

Yes! I'm always up for a sword-weilding chick. Honestly, I get so tired of all those fragile-yet-adorable heroine. Enough. I want someone who can kick ass. I want Xena (or something).

I really didn't get the Scottish thing either. Are Scottish accents suppose to be more threatening? I don't know.
I was charmed by Mia Wasikowska, but I just don't see what new things she can bring to the industry. I'll have to wait to see her in other movies.

I LOVE Alan Rickman. But then again, when isn't he just great?
