They showed it again! Yay! :D
Yes, I saw lots of the plot coming. When they were looking for a symbolist and chose the father, I thought "Umh, why not the son? He is far more obviously reading symbols all the time."
And when they were talking about the Guild, I first thought about the Spanish family with five daughters and was surprised they chose the dope-heads. But I bought the Healer.
So, that little detour wasn't 100% convincing (only 80%), but I liked it anyway because it was about the message "nobody is who they are told to be". Which is like a red thread that winds itself through all of Shyamalan's movies. Nobody knows their own identity.
Why I loved this movie? Because I loved that the important person Story had to meet wasn't a future leader or a political person but someone who writes a book that changes the life of someone born much later.
And I loved the interaction between Story and Cleveland. Especially the scene with the two of them on the couch, she sleeping on his shoulder, wrapped in his arm. So peaceful and innocent, I felt a genuine longing just looking at it.
He really needed someone to protect and she needed a protector, but yeah, the identity thing ...
Bryce Dallas is a really beautiful woman.
