My Altar

Mar 20, 2007 00:37

After a long delay of the process of taking, downloading and editing the photos, here´s my altar:

to the left is my Well, a silver cup; to the right is the Fire, a brass candleholder with a tealight inside; at the center, my Tree, made with nine strands of twisted copperwire, set inside a small copper bowl and surrounded by nine round stones, all of this on a copper plate.

Over the Tree there is my Serpent´s Egg, that I painted with dots from one to five, for oracular (Ogham!) use.

At the back there is a black stone with a boar painted on it, dedicated to Endovelico.

My Rosary, with nine beads plus the Sun´s face (also for Endovelico).

My new wand, made of blackberry wood, with a Tree-like structure at the point with three small bells -- yes, I´ve joined my old Wand and my former craoibh airgid, the Silver Branch, as one.

This, the main Altar, stays on my dinner-room, facing West.
This year, another Altar simply had grown and appeared on the kitchen´s windowsill, also facing West:

the Fire on the left (the red glass candleholder, nearer the stove), the Well on the right (the enamel glass cup, nearer the fridge), the column between the windows as the Tree, with two copper ladles hung on it, the smaller and highest filled with dried spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, bay sticks, star anise pods) and the bigger, lowest one holding a holey stone and some dried flowers, changing as needed.
