First off, trying something a little new. Thought I'd try out having a separate hiking blog using blogger, to see how that went. I'd never been there, believe it or not, but it was a nice little town! Reminded me a lot of Kirksville's downtown square. Except for the AWESOME Jim the Wonder Dog park, of course.

It's a lot like Kirksville, is why...the little land-grant college town is kind of the same everywhere. My mom went to Missouri Valley College and my dad was a townie and it was love at first sight.

They did break up in '96, and MacGowan actually had left the band in '91 before that (or was fired). Apparently they started touring again together in 2001 on and off?

Old Drum is pretty much famous, from what I can tell, for being killed and his owner writing a heartwarming speech about him in the trial, where apparently "man's best friend" was allegedly first used. Maaybe?
