[today is moving day. Things have been going well; he's finally beginning to feel at home. It really is such a nice feeling. So, after a little scouting, he decides to treat himself to a new apartment. He gathers up his things-- only a change of clothes and a few books tucked under one arm --and he sets off from the third Community building, to the ( Read more... )

Did you often lack water where you're from?

It was a precious commodity, yes.

I assume it was not where you are from?

Depends on where you had the fortune to be raised.

But it was generally an uncommon resource. There were none of those "oceans" that seem to be so abundant in other worlds.

Mm.

And other resources?

[It's a common thing for her to talk on the journals while working, and who Legato is probably isn't immediately apparent anyway. Talk of water pings her in a variety of ways, really. So he'll get her voice but not her face, and she sounds faintly distracted because she's working on a map in the background.]

Kind of hard not to take it for granted, where I'm from. Our world is mostly ocean.

[People that hardly know Legato talking to him? That's fine. One of his very closest friends here who sounds a bit distracted? He was serious about hoping you're making a new start Legato buuuuuuuuuuuut...]

Uh... Nami, um, I don't want to worry you... but, uh... well...

[Oh, she recognises that voice, which makes her pencil still on the paper as she takes in his nervous tone. And goes over Legato's words in her mind again.

...honestly? With what she already knows and Vash's sudden interjection, that's all she needs. She doesn't need to check the journal to know he's locked it.]

I'm talking to Legato, aren't I.

[Filtered more to ensure Vash doesn't know they've met. That can remain a nice little surprise.] And my world has plenty of annoying things to it, like the humans themselves.

What is your world like, if I may ask?

Between the wars and the monsters, I wonder how some of these pathetic humans can even survive.

It is their only talent, and they are unsurpassed at it.

There's actually a lot more water in my world. The lack of ocean really takes some getting used to here.

I've heard several mentions of oceans already. I honestly cannot imagine it.

Are other resources as abundant, then?

Wood's a lot harder to come by. And it's necessary for making ships. Metals are pretty rare too.

I take it you come from a desert place? Since you call water a resource.

Yes, a wasteland of a world.

I'm frankly curious to know if populations on other worlds had the same struggles as mine.

Depends on what you mean by 'world of nothing'.

I leave it open to interpretation.
