As it is approximately twelve-thirty, I just got in from my session with Maureen. She was pleased with my journal entry, and I was surprised to admit that I was as well. On her return home, she took that letter and reviewed it again. Those were words she had produced from deep inside of her, but they weren't everything she felt. Wisdom was--even in her words to describe him--a difficult person to nail down. She couldn't burn the letter, not yet. Perhaps she needed to edit the writing. Though, then she would ruin the authenticity of the writing. Was the assignment not about capturing your emotions in words in the best way possible at any moment in time? Maureen had specificially told her not to think hard on this, but to write what she felt. But she couldn't put the paper to the flame. She had to wait on it. For whatever reason, she just couldn't accept turning those feelings to ash. She carried the paper to her locked filing cabinet and filed it away ( ... )

Oh, great. A whole letter of pouring out her heart, and now she felt like playing games. He typed a quick response:

Cute, Pryde. "Dear Pete: Six years goes kind of fast, doesn’t it? I mean, that’s two times the years that we were together." That enough of a reference point for you, or should I keep going?It occurred to him, after he'd sent the e-mail, that the letter might've been a prank. Pretty likely, actually. Printed letter, handwriting on the envelope obviously wasn't hers... but the point of that would be what, exactly? Sad to say, he could think of a few guys who'd probably think stirring up trouble between Pete and his ex would be a laugh riot. But the letter didn't have the feel of that.
