Half a century

As of last month, I have been on this planet for half a century. It got me thinking.

1 I'm hard on houses. I have lived in six homes in my lifetime (one of those was still 'home' despite me living in varying shared accomodation/flats etc) Only two of those houses are still standing. One of those is the house I am currently living in - and thus far ( Read more... )

I find it difficult to make friends too, Sharyn. I don't know why this is, and probably you don't know either. Reading this post, I'm reminded that I've been neglectful of keeping in touch with you. I'm sure this bears some reason on my lack of friends, although people neglect to contact me too, which I find perfecting understandable. Sometimes life gets in the way of what I really want to do. I assume the same happens with all.

I'm not hard on home, although my husband most assuredly is. I don't understand it really. Can you shed some light on this for me?

Being over a decade older than you, my music playlist is scattered with songs about acceptance of people due to the racial upheaval that happened in the US during the '60s. However, because I played instruments, I also gravitate to the classics, jazz, and folk music.

Much belated Happy Birthday, Sharyn!

Thank you :) Life truly does get in the way. and my scatter brain, most times I think, yes, I'll do this, this and that, and get halfway through one thing, have to deal with the boys, and forget everything else.

I don't understand the being hard on homes thing, I just realised I am, very. My sister is ten years older than me, so I grew up with a lot of her music choices influencing me. My interest in playing music, and the years spent playing professionally mean these days I'm still drawn to guitar-driven rock music :) Just, music with good messages.

I played piano, flute, and guitar. As popular as the guitar was, and maybe still is, I never got the hang of picking. I marvel at people who can pick a melody. These days, when writing and wanting background music, I turn to contemporary jazz.

Half a century, and so much to celebrate.

Music, friends, family, a glorious cake, and all those memories. Who cares if the houses have suffered a little? It gives them that "lived in" look.
