University of Florida student tasered after resisting arrest at a John Kerry speach

so he was resisting arrest for what they would eventually say was 'starting a riot'. i don't know if anyone else notices that most people remained seated, kerry said it was 'okay, i'll answer his questions', and the people that did get up only started freaking out when the police proceeded to taser the student while he was already in handcuffs.

seriously? this kid is an asshole. i know they don't teach common sense in college or anything, but you have to know that if you go to see a prominent politician speak the security is going to be intense. he was also clearly trying to start a ruckus - interrupting another student, getting loud, resisting the officers, etc. it's not like he was co-operating with the officers and they tased him anyway. he was struggling and fighting and generally being a dick. plus, the female officer saying, "sir, stop resisting or we're going to tase you," should be a pretty good indiciation that you should STOP FUCKING STRUGGLING and co-operate.

oh, and if nothing else, he definitely called an officer "bro", and for that he should have gotten a douse of mace, as well.

sure security is going to be intense, but at the point they started being forceful with him he had only been standing there asking questions. from the 3 videos i've seen he didn't interrupt anyone [aside from maybe that female security gaurd who came up to him while he was still getting to his questions], he was getting loud because the police were trying to escort him out without any apparent reason outside of asking controversial questions, and i think anyone in that situation would resist being taken away mid sentence with no explanation ( ... )

what you don't see in the tapes is that he gets up and interrupts another student (who was supposed to be the last person to get to ask a question). kerry said he would take the kid's question if he would wait his turn. i admire kerry for handling this appropriately, even though this kid was obviously trying to start shit.

not getting to finish your question is NOT a reason to physically resist security. sure, i'd have been pissed too, but at some point you have to realize that it's not worth it. this kid was given ample opportunity to comply and refused. he easily could have injured someone or himself while he was being removed, and so he needed additional incentive to comply. end of story.

the point is that it's really hard to feel sorry for someone who puts himself in that kind of situation. and i don't, at all.
