Out of the North

The inspiration came at around 3 in the morning, after reading many Eomer/Lothiriel fanfics, when I was trying to get to sleep. And yup, this is inspired by the Ride of the Rohirrim and their coming to Pelennor Fields, which turned the battle, in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

Out of the North
They came forth
With the rising sun
Riding upon their golden hair
Mounted upon great beasts,
Those steeds so rare.

And there, upon the horizon,
They lined for miles, on
And on, as far as the eye could see.
And as the red Dawn appeared,
Their king gave forth a shout.
A cheer. And their horses reared.

For now they came,
As the bowmen took aim.
And swords and shields,
Together they rang,
For above the din
The beaten paths thus sang.

And hope came to all
Who cowered within the wall,
As rocks and skulls flew overhead
And each and every fell in pain.
So they took hope
In the riders with the golden mane.
