Communications between Reiki people

So, today I sent out an email about the remaining places on my Reiki & Yoga retreat. All UK Reiki Federation registered teachers and practitioners are listed on the site, for the public to find Reiki people, listed geographically. I'm on there too, and many people find me that way, or through google. Some contact me with things I'm not that ( Read more... )

There are ways of saying things, and that's just way too harsh and it would have taken me by suprise too.

We were talking about this kind of thing last weekend. It's a shame that, in spite of the Reiki principles, there are Reiki people out there who aren't (allegedly) coming from a place of humbleness and compassion. It's a power thing, sadly.

Perhaps they've had a bad experience with emails and date protection and this is a reaction to that.

Quite possibly that is why. I had another one today asking me (politely) where I got their email address, since it was unsolicited. She did point out she had no problem with receiving relevant emails though. I wrote back telling her that I used our public listings on the federation, and that I had no intention of spamming people, handing over details to anyone, or bombarding, I just thought local reiki people would be interested - also I would take her off my list if she didn't want to hear about future retreats. She came back saying the retreat looks great and in future she would be interested. She also apologised for being a bit twitchy, but she had recently almost been scammed by a supposed marketing agency targeting practitioners. It might be something you want to be aware of since they could contact any of us so here is her story ( ... )

You have not broken data protection policy by contacting someone with details that are freely available to the public. That person is an idiot (insert expletive here) so I suggest you ignore them and not let it get to you.

I used to think all pagans would be lovely. They aren't. People aren't if you look at them on a group level, and that's an unfortunate fact of life.

You just became a holistic massage therapist? Fab! :) congratulations
