I so should be doing homework right now...

Driving. It's a funny thing. By yourself, you cut lose, you relax. With the pounds of metal and glass you create your own little bubble of a world within a world. You turn up (or down) the radio or fiddle with the air. Personally, I turn up my music a little and sing whatever part I know like, be it vocals or bass or guitar or whatever. And ( Read more... )

I know that's exactly what you do... I've been there and witnessed it... though I did partake. ;)

I love long drives, for the most part... usually at night.. it just seems more.. confined. :)

You take care.

I rememebered I liked driving home after I got out of work at Wal-Mart at like midnight. It was dark and quite and chilly and just me and my music and barely any cars on the road. It was a pleasant experience.

filling the silence is an American thing... it really is. I just read in a linguistics book that it's statistically proven that Americans invariably interject SOMETHING, some random comment about whatever, if a silence reaches 4 seconds. Having realized this, I realize silence can be a good thing.

Mabel, Frances, and I drove to a dance and back and the whole way driving I didn't really say much and we all just kind of sat there and listened to the music... it's all good! There's a reason why every language possesses the phrase "Silence is golden"

Okay. I've been holding out. This is me. I hate that you think that about riding in the car. I know you are thinking about it partially because of me. Dude- haven't I told you that I zone out sometimes when you are in the car with me and I honestly don't know if I have been singing out of key or talking to myself or picking my nose. It's crazy but no one really cares. You are cool as you are. I rarely feel normal pressures anymore. In fact a girl who had a great antipathy for me in high school was forced to sit next to me in class today. I seriously haven't talked to her since the first semester of my senior year after she had made a hideous comment to me in class. She was so awkward today! She wouldn't move her arm to me and she would just look at me and I even had to pass a paper to her and she acted like she was sleeping to avoid looking at me. Doesn't anyone get it? IT DOESN'T MATTER! If and when you are truly comfortable with yourself, you won't feel that pressure to impress or that you are being judged. That's when you are at ( ... )

I never said I was thinking about driving with you in this thought. I just meant in general, with people you're not comfortable with. Thus the need to do something and not fall into silence.
