I think getting a cat will help lower your stress levels, i.e. cuddling. Making a lot of little short-term goals is also a good idea, especially if you pick small and stressless things like "I'm gonna write the best Rayne fic ever by Friday!" or "I'm gonna knit an adorbs baby hat and donate it to a shelter, just for fun!"
