I've only cared about the things my eyes could not reach in the past few years. I have undoubtedly and blindly pushed away many immediate cares of mine for the ideal life that I project in my mind 24/7. I miss many people, good friends, that I rejected for the long-run. It's not that I didn't care about them or our friendships, it's that I saw them

This is why I stopped hanging out with people too. It's true I miss them, and that they probably know me better than most. Yet I felt in order for me to grow-up, I had to let go of the people who were still grasping onto "childhood", as you put it.

no, this is one time you shouldn't feel like a dick. I know what you mean, and I think I see what you're trying to express, and "all we have is now" is a very apt and simple way to describe it. the people that have known us the longest, the people that have put up with us through good times and bad... these people are important, and we have to grow apart in order to grow at all, I think, but these same people are also important to hold onto... so hang out with whoever you have in mind while you can, and make the damned best of it.
