Transcription

Kids in Israel do not know what transcription is. 
When Israeli adults see transcription of a word they think it's a foreign language.

I studied (British) transcription from the very first school lesson (which means I was 8) and think it helped me a lot. 
In my opinion transcription is a must.

What do you think about teaching and learning

Мне кажется, это индивидуально. Мне не мешает, что я неправильно произношу слова, пока меня понимают. А учить ещё и транскрипцию мне лень.

Просто невероятно - я уже не первый день обдумываю, как бы мне выбраться и встретиться с тобой!

В принципе, после 16 любой день - я себе отпуск делаю на 2 недели.

Transcription helps a lot. I've also got used to the International Phonetic Alphabet and find the proprietary respelling systems used by Merriam-Webster and alike to be cumbersome and ambiguous.
It does strike me as very odd that transcription is not taught at schools. How do they learn new words then?
