Fan-freaking-tastic personality test.

As you all know, I am addicted to personality tests (enneagram, myers-briggs, whatever you can throw at me as long as it's at least somewhat serious and not one of those "which Golden Girl are you?"-- although, those have their place as well and I'm Rose). The "Personal DNA" test I just took is one of the coolest I've taken. The graphic interface ( Read more... )

I didn't know you had done the Enneagram. What are you? I'm a 9. I only found out a couple of months ago.

I find it has helped me understand some things about myself which I could never comprehend.

P.S. Most likely I'm Blanche.

I'm beginning to doubt that, actually, same as I'm doubting my M-B "ISFJ" results. I think I've always done what I thought was expected of me, which included a lot of enneagram 6 and M-B ISFJ traits, but the more I mature the less I worry and fuss over others, and the more I indulge in daydreaming & fantasy (which I remember doing A LOT of as a child). And the more I read on enneagram the more I think I am probably a 9w1.

I don't know what you guys are talking about, but... anonymous March 7 2006, 20:04:27 UTC
Personality tests are, in my humble opinion, unreliable and arbitrary. You might check out this article on Myers-Briggs for more information.

Skeptically,

I'm getting to this late, and I hope you can't reply because you're busy helping Jill give birth or enjoying your new baby daughter, but I did want to address it. I've read the skepdic article on the M-B test before, and while I agree on unreliable, I don't agree on arbitrary. I say I agree on unreliable because to rely on the M-B or enneagram for anything beyond rumination on yourself (or others) is folly. I don't believe it's arbitrary, though-- it's impressionist, certainly not a tight fit for most people, but the profiles definitely describe different types of people. I don't see myself in the ESTJ profile at all, for example, but I do see myself in the INFJ and the ISFJ ones.

So, basically, I think they're only useful if you approach them descriptively, not proscriptively, and only for self-examination, not for filtering who you'll date or interact with or however else people use these things.
