Everyday absurdity

Scene: Late afternoon, in a cafeteria, after eating, in the line to pay and leave. In a small town in central NC, a textile industry town of modest socioeconomic interest. I like the idea of talking India shop, because sharing a birthplace with someone is pretty much the same as sharing a profession. It's good for about five minutes of polite conversation without repetition or lulls.

Also, Noah is a screwball, albeit an endearing screwball.

He IS a screwball. Also quite endearing.

It turns out having children, no matter your personal philosophy on childrearing, is good for a few minutes of conversation, but sometimes it takes on a competitive timbre. I guess that might be true of the profession thing as well, but so far I've always been the omega dog in that regard.
