You'll note that none of these icons are posted that this community. They're all in (recently) locked entries on my personal journal. I prefer it that way - I started this community to start afresh, as it were, so there they'll stay. That said, I really wanted to chart my progress in the last year, just to see how they've changed. (I think they've changed a lot!)
February
This was one of the first posts I've ever made where I remember being very proud. I was experimenting with composition and bold colors for one of the first times. I'm still pretty happy with this batch, though some of them are a little blurrier than I would normally prefer. The Desmond/Penny icons were for
20inspirations.
March
My Olivia Dunham claim for 20inspirations. This was one of those posts where I really liked half the post and really disliked the other half. The one thing I did get from this batch was a better sense of cropping. Some of my favorite crops I've ever done were in there.
June
Buffy season six for
20inspirations. The most controversial season, but the one when everyone was at the prime of Good Hair and Attractive Clothing (hence the reason I chose it). This was when I really started finding my lighter, texture-heavy niche. I wasn't a big fan of this post as a whole, and if I remember correctly I did it really quickly to make the challenge time, but it kick-started a few trends that I've carried on.
July
During my inevitable HP phase circa the release of the final movie. And another
20inspirations post (I only post icons for that challenge, if you hadn't noticed). The colors were really soft this time around, but it was another texture experiment. I also started using gradient layers, which I'm afraid I've come to abuse.
November
More Harry Potter. With some Twin Peaks, TVD and random movie icons strewn in. Probably my favorite icon post of the year. I really liked the way the HP icons turned out and I had a lot of fun with the Twin Peaks caps.
December
Never mind that Friday Night Lights is the prettiest show ever. It was impossible for me to go against the pretty natural lighting they use - it really lent itself to how I styled this batch. I liked the combination of composition and cropping I did here. It might be my most consistent post of the year.
