LJ notifications

Hey guys!

For those not receiving notifications, you can enable IM notifications and use a client that supports Jabber, such as Trillian. Or switch to a Gmail address, which is apparently still allowing notifications to come through. On an IM client, just choose Jabber, then enter your LJ username as your login, livejournal.com as the server and use your LJ password for the password. Some IM clients don't ask for a server, in which case your login would be username@livejournal.com.

I've put a free IM client called IMO on my iPhone (Trillian for iPhone and iPad is pay, unfortunately) and enabled IM notifications on my journal (click on Home, then Profile>Settings, then the Notifications tab), though I'm planning on getting a Gmail account as well, specifically to receive LJ notifications.

Basically what's happened is that LJ got themselves onto a spam block list due to the huge amount of spam being generated on the site. They're "working" to get it fixed but until then those of us using most major email clients or private email hosting will not be receiving notifications as a lot of companies use this spam block list and have added LJ to their spam filter. Enabling IM notifications or just simply switching to Gmail, at least while this is going on, should let you receive notifications of any replies to your posts and comments.
