Well, it has been four months to the day since I posted in this journal.

I still log in a few times a week to catch up on everyone's entries, but haven't had the motivation to write my own at all. A dear LJ friend kindly messaged me to check in and I promised I would update soon, so I am.

What's been going on? Honestly, everything and nothing all at the same time. I started working some time in September at a small diner in Raleigh as a hostess. Guys, I can't fucking believe that I wasted four YEARS of my life being afraid to get a job. I love it so much. I love my coworkers, we have honestly formed a small family (we all opened the restaurant together, it's a tiny chain but new to North Carolina) and I hang out with them outside of work and everything. My managers really like me and are happy to help me get through school (majoring in Hospitality Management) as much as they can. I love it so much I even managed to get Kevin a job there as a dishwasher. And they ended up loving HIM so much that they promoted him to prep cook within a month of him working there, which we are thrilled about. We both work a lot now since he has to keep his other job until they can make him full time at the diner. I'm working around 30 hours a week usually and he works around 40-50 on average. It could be a lot worse though. As of now we're usually able to be home in time to eat dinner together, which is all we really need. Every now and then our days off will align, so that's really nice too. So yeah. It's going well.

I honestly am not sure what else to update y'all on. Christmas was wonderful even though Kevin worked all day long Christmas Eve. New Years was pretty much the same situation as well. I do worry about him working so much because he's such a homebody and, well, I only have to work one job while he works two. But it helps that he really loves working at the diner, so when he has to work there a lot, he does not mind. He just really hates his other job. I hope they can get him something full time really soon.

I have also reunited with some old friends, Alyssa and most recently Elizabeth. It's funny, both friendships ended because I gave them advice that they didn't like (my specialty), and then they both came back and said I was right. I've learned from these friendships that I actually am a great judge of character, but I guess a lot of young people only want to hear the words "totally, you should go for it!!" instead of the truth. I don't mind. Alyssa has taught me a lot about NOT letting yourself get attached to people and it has helped me a lot. Kevin is the only one who isn't allowed to leave my life :P

Oh, we did celebrate five years of being together on November 16th which is awesome. I can't believe this will be our sixth year together. On April 4th, we'll be celebrating THREE fucking years of marriage. What the hell. I'm not okay with that! Time has gone by so fast. In a few weeks, I'm going to turn 25 years old. What whaaaat. I'm excited to be 25, but not excited to be older than that next year. Like I think 25 will be the last birthday I'm excited about, which is sad. I always loved my birthday.

Alyssa told me this morning that she and her boyfriend (of less than 3 years..) are starting the process of buying a house. They have zero savings and she does not have a job. He has a job but he doesn't make that much, less than 3k per month. She is always telling me how broke they are...so why the fuck would you want to buy a house? She has two kids, one of them with her current boyfriend. I just think she's being really stupid and realllllly rushing into something that SHOULD NOT be rushed into. I think it's so funny how different our lives are. We're the same age, but she has two kids and no job and is trying to buy a house. I'm married with zero kids, living in a very tiny apartment and working a regular old part time job. I think she's a bit ahead of her age and I'm a bit behind, but I'd rather be me, frankly. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with having kids young or owning a house young, but the way she's trying to go about it is so wrong. Kevin will be able to get a VA loan when we are eventually ready to get a house (best kind of loan you can get, from what I've heard) but we still don't feel like we're even close to ready to take that step. Fuck, she makes such rushed decisions. She had her first kid after being with her boyfriend for a year, dumped him after two more years, fucked everyone in sight for a while and then landed on her current boyfriend, who she also had a kid with after roughly a year. Just...yikes. Yikes.

Anyway, I'm going to take off this face mask and then start getting ready for work. Love to you all <3
