mike and i went to toronto this past weekend as a four year anniversary present to ourselves. what follows is a self-indulgent recap so i can remember the details.
FRIDAY
flight out of boston at 10:45
pretzel
flight in to toronto 3:15
bus to hotel
cab accident
walk to hotel
check-in
walk to Royal Ontario Museum
Find diner to eat dinner (monte carlo, onion rings, root beer float)
Royal Ontario Museum (Canada room, typewriters, history of style)
SATURDAY
walk to Union Station
i make a fool of myself (Corner of Bay and Dundas does not equal "abandoned us")
CN Tower
lunch at the rotating restaurant at the top (bruschetta three ways, salmon and spinach quiche & sweet potato fries, almond and brown sugar tarte)
red sox v. toronto (10-2 loss. drunk Canadians heckling. "RE-CESS-ION" and "Go back to America!" and "Hey, I'm an American and I bought a house I can't afford!")

Waterfront
Toronto Harbor Islands (boardwalk, disk golf course, bench on the water)
one hour in Old Toronto trying to find a place for dinner
Dinner at Eggspectations
one hour in the Entertainment District trying to find a freaking sports bar (i mean, it's canada for christ's sake!)
Watching Final Four at Gabby's bar
SUNDAY
9:15 Check out of hotel (aka, red sox fan central)
breakfast at Eggspectations
walk to corner of BAY and DUNDAS
fight with greyhound people over lost tickets
bus to buffalo (incl. 45 minutes in customs)
i vote for cab
mike votes for the bus
we take the bus 40 minutes through the buffalo ghetto to the airport. (we were the only white people on the bus)
delayed flight
buffalo airport for 4 hours (chicken fingers & sweet potato fries, frozen yogurt, three peanut butter cookies)
board plane at 8:00 (an hour and a half late)
wait until 9:00 (disabled plane in boston)
10:35 land in boston
12:20 home in bed
