Ahahaha, perfectly imperfect Carlos/Claritin - another secondary OTP? "I love you sooooo much! But, you know, CAT. Oh, stop sniffling, science guy." (Not that I would ever be the Cecil in this. Me? Put a cat before a boyfriend? >.> Hahaha sob. #crazycatlady4evahalone)
And ok, to prove that there is life after headcanons, I'm not upset that one of my personal ones has also been jossed. NOT upset. (I genuinely believed that Steeeeve Carrrlsberrg was just a perfectly ordinary guy, not better but neither worse than the average Night Vale citizen, and maybe even less inclined than Cecil to pettiness, lack of anger management and presence of spite.)
But, well, if he's Cecil's niece stepfather... explains so much. ;-) Any human foibles become much harder to forgive if he's the disinterested stepfather of a never-before-mention much-beloved niece.
But...
...wait a second.
Niece?
"I... don't remember having a brother." But he never mentioned or mentions a sister, either! So is the out of town mother Cecil's narratively forgotten sister, or is the missing bio-father Cecil's mysteriously forgotten-remembered brother?
Are so many facts from Cecil's past appearing because of the ~events~ in Cassette? (Or just because the Joseph Fink Multitudes need to do more world-building now that they're the shepherds of a Thing, not just podcasting for a few friends? *g*)
And, of course, everything else.
Who (or what) is the person in the Peanut Butter Patties crate? (And how much of the fandom hopes it's going to be Earl? *g*)
Danaaaa.
*gasp* Lauren is brilliant in her evilness. They threatened his niece! They dared! Cecil may seem like a doofus sometimes, even often, but even if the Night Vale grownups are clearly inferior, from a battle-readiness POV, to the children, I wouldn't underestimate Cecil and his carefully placed explosives.
But I wouldn't underestimate Lauren and Strex, either.
Ahhhhh.
(Khoshekh ;_; KHOSHEKH It is my headcanon that he wasn't exactly a cat, not like Maru is a cat, when he was floating, but has become one now. Hence the "much less of him physically and mentally". Cats are transdimensional beings anyway, capable of being simultaneously on all planes of existence, but floating!Khoshekh looked the part before, whereas now he'll be disguised as a cute but battle-weary tom.)
(It's hard for me to remain a one-dimensional listener, and ignore the fact that there are writers behind this universe. So yeah, I know that there may be a heavy dose of retcon in "facts" that surface now, disguised as narrative twists and/or mysterious events and/or peeling back of the layers to do some world-building.)
