John met a woman via mail, who started writing him after hearing about him from her friend with whom John had conversed online, she said she found him interesting and wanted to know if he wanted to get to know her better, this came shortly after John and Brandy's relationship had been blown to pieces and he was feeling both used and pretty low.

geez, that sucks, man.  it's like there's an endless string of people out there ready to pull you into another unhealthy relationship.  i'm sad that so many times when you trust people, they just end up hurting you...  i wish you and i lived closer so we could hang out on a regular basis.  friends nearby always helps.
