I've worked for two universities, one as a researcher, so I know what kind of big happy families they tend to be. But, hey, once you get past the sexism, academic egotism, turf battles, intellectual dishonesty, backstabbing, and total failure to remember that the (theoretical) whole point of the institution is to educate, the rest is pretty nice.
