Apparently the nurses’ industrial action is over. I think the government shat itself when they actually didn’t pay nurses then realised that the nurses would actually walk off the wards. Yay for at least a partial resolution and that you'll get to stop having to do stuff.

So... to get 500 new nurses in 4 years time that means they need to get that many people to start courses and stick to them... yeah right. Has the government even looked at drop rates at uni let alone those who complete degrees but don't go into the field they studied. Seriously delusional.

When do you finish your placement?

another option is that rather than subsidising HECS for nursing degrees as incentive for students to study it, they could spend that money on making the job more of a desirable prospect.

thats what i thought! right now nurses are paid roughly the same amount as that bitch that scans your chocolate at the supermarket with a whole bunch more responsibility. as well as that they have to deal with sick people with all the bitching and disease catching that goes along with it. then there are the abusive patients. personally, i'm planing to stay in the business just long enough for it to take me around the world then i'm getting into something that is better paid, easier, and dosn't involve so much poo, puke, and urine.
